Randy Travis arrested on suspicion of public intoxication

Randy Travis.jpgCountry singer Randy Travis was arrested Monday (Feb. 6) morning in Sanger, Texas on suspicion of public intoxication, NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth reports. A spokesmanfor the Denton County Sheriff's Department said an officer saw a suspicious vehicle parked in front of the First Baptist Church with Travis inside with an open bottle of wine and "smelling like alcohol."

"They take you to jail for at least four hours, time to sober up," the police spokesman explained. Last September, the singer collapsed during a performance at the Huguley Memorial Center's 18th annual Crystal Heart Gala in downtown Fort Worth.

He reportedly stopped in the middle of a number, saying his vocal cords were giving out before he fell onto the front of the stage. His tour manager called the incident a bad reaction to over-the-counter allergy medication and dehydration.
