Rashida Jones is answering the critics who accused her on "slut-shaming" after a Twitter rant aimed at female celebrities who she thinks are using sex and their bodies to sell bodies, writing, "This week's celeb news takeaway: she who comes closest to showing the actual inside of her vagina is most popular."

The "Parks and Recreation" star penned an essay for Glamour, where she responds to the tweets she got in return for her thoughts. "I'm not gonna lie. The fact that I was accused of 'slut-shaming,' being anti-woman, and judging women's sex lives crushed me," she writes.

She went on to say that her using the word "whore" in the hashtag "#stopactinglikewhores" wasn't meant to criticize anyone's sex life, but rather to point out that sexual imagery displayed by some female celebrities has become over saturated. "The poles, the pasties, the gyrating: This isn't showing female sexuality; this is showing what it looks like when women sell sex," Jones writes. She also notes that this picture of sexuality doesn't cover every woman out there, "but in pop culture there's just one way to be. And so much of it feels staged for men, not for our own pleasure."

She further goes on to specifically point to  Miley Cyrus and Nicki Minaj, both of whom have legions of teenage girls as fans. "Even if adult Miley and Nicki have ownership of their bodies, do the girls imitating them have the same agency? Where do we draw the line between teaching them freedom of sexual expression and pride in who they are on the inside? Are we even allowed to draw a line?" Jones questions.

In the end Rashida admits nothing gives her the authority to tell people how they should or shouldn't act, it's just something she feels strongly about and a point she hopes other women do too. As with her original Twitter rant, she can't help but end things with a bit of a joke, writing, "Let me get to the point of this, which is that I'm dropping my new single this year! And if everything continues in this direction, my single will be literally dropping out of my butt. Live at the Video Music Awards. See you there."
