The cable network announced Tuesday that it's picking up "The Real Housewives of D.C." and renewing "The Real Housewives of New Jersey" for a second season.

In the D.C. version, the franchise will focus on women who have influence in Washington culture, whether it's through political galas, fundraisers and other society events. Power will be at play here, and we're just hoping for a rousing filibuster about fashion or at least a dinner party where a table gets upended.

Speaking of ... Teresa Giudice, dinner party host extraordinaire, will be back with the other Jersey Girls for a second season in 2010.

"New Jersey's" first season was on of the highest-rated "Real Housewives" series in all demos, averaging 2.55 million total viewers.
