Regis Philbin and Kathie Lee Gifford reunion on 'Today'

regis-kathie-lee-today-show.jpgRegis Philbin and Kathie Lee Gifford were longtime co-hosts of their self-titled morning show from 1988 to 2000 and they reunited Wednesday (June 20) on the fourth hour of "The Today Show." It was all the delightfulness we expected it to be.

Kathie Lee and her usual co-host Hoda Kotb always have a drink of some sort, so Wednesday morning, Kathie Lee had a glass of red wine and Regis had what looked like a mojito, about which he cracked, "This is kinda good ... mmm, a cherry."

Regis also commented about how different "Today" is from doing his "Live" show, "It's the wait to get here. We never used to wait ... 30 seconds before the thing, 9 o'clock, we walked down the hallway, we did it! Here, I've got Matt Lauer scratching at me, Al Roker was supposedly going to meet me, Donny Deutsch wants to hear my confession [ laughs] It's nice, it really is, it's good to see you again."

The show also previewed Regis' debut on "Hot in Cleveland" as Pierre, an older gentleman who may or may not be gay.

"We close out the entire season, Betty White and I leave, out the door, and God only knows what we did," cracks Regis. "Pierre's coming back in the first two episodes [next season] ... I wish Hollywood would leave me alone, I just don't have the time [ laughs]."

Matt Lauer also took a segment of the earlier "Today" hours to interview Reege and Kathie Lee about their reunion. Watch below.
