Regis Philbin doesn't know 'Pants on the Ground,' does know 'Idol' Alan Lambert

regis-philbin-pants-ground.jpgRegis Philbin revealed on Tuesday on "Live with Regis and Kelly" that he is not aware of "Pants on the Ground"  -- but he is aware of Alan Lambert.

Oh Reege. We know that you go to bed way before "American Idol" airs but c'mon... "Pants on the Ground" was off-the-charts crazy last week!

It got so big that "The View" invited General Larry Platt to appear on their show and perform his song.

Luckily, Kelly Ripa watches "American Idol" (or has heard of "the internet") and was able to perform a snippet of the song for Regis and guest Randy Jackson.

Regis then went on to ask Randy about the "Alan Lambert" controversy. Sigh.

Is it time for Regis to hang up his "Live" spurs? We think so. Bring in somebody young and witty as a counterpart for Kelly Ripa (who is delightfully hilarious on "Live"), instead of making us feel like she's got a Monday through Friday elderly caretaker job.
