During Tuesday's (Feb. 12) State of the Union address, Congressman Steve Cohen (D-Tenn.) was exchanging tweets with a young woman whom has now been revealed to be his daughter.

Cohen held a press conference Friday in his office where he identified the young woman as Victoria Brink, whose existence he discovered three years ago.

"I googled her mother, found out she had a child and the math looked pretty accurate. The mom told me we had a lot of catching up to do," says Cohen. The girl's mother is an old girlfriend of Cohen's.

"When [Victoria] let me know she was watching the State of the Union address, I was thrilled that she wanted Steve Cohen to be part of her. I had such joy, that I couldn't hold back from tweeting her," says Cohen.

He adds that he was just genuinely excited to hear from Brink, since she has not publicly admitted to Cohen being her father.

The Twitter exchange has since been deleted, but Politwoops has archived them. Cohen tweeted to Brink, "nice to know you were watchin SOTU(state of the union).Happy Valentines beautiful girl. ilu."

NBC News correspondent Luke Russert tweets of the Cohen press conference, "Cohen was emotional while telling the story about his daughter, fought back tears, could feel genuine fatherly emotion."

Russert has also posted the picture below of Cohen and Brink, from the White House Christmas party this past December. Cohen tells NBC News, "I've been able to take her on a tour of the Capitol and the White House, I want her to see my world and be a part of it."
