Russell Armstrong: 'Real Housewives of Beverly Hills' husband commits suicide [Updated]
Russell Armstrong, the estranged husband of "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" star Taylor Armstrong, was found dead Monday night (Aug. 15) in a friend's home. Authorities believe he committed suicide.
TMZ reports that Armstrong, 47, was found hanging in the bedroom at a home on Mulholland Drive. He was pronounced dead at 8:16 p.m. Monday.
Russell Armstrong, a venture capitalist, was seen occasionally on the first season of "Real Housewives of Beverly Hills." Taylor Armstrong filed for divorce in July after six years of marriage; the couple has a 5-year-old daughter.
Armstrong's lawyer, Ronald Richards, tells TMZ his client was "extremely bummed out" at the divorce filing and was also dealing with serious financial issues.
As news of Armstrong's death spread, Bravo and Taylor Armstrong's castmates offered their thoughts on Twitter.
"I am so very sad about today's news," Bravo exec Andy Cohen wrote. "My prayers and thoughts are with Taylor Armstrong and her family."
Camille Grammer expressed similar sentiments, saying, "My sympathy and condolences go out to Taylor and Kennedy. My thoughts and prayers are with them."
Bravo also posted a statement on the show's Facebook page: "All of us at Bravo are deeply saddened by the tragic news of the death of Russell Armstrong. Our sympathy and thoughts are with the Armstrong family at this difficult time."
