'School Pride': Sneak peek NBC's feel-good reality makeover show

school-pride-cast-320.jpgNBC wants to get into the life-changing, tearjerker reality show business in earnest.

The network has added the uplifting alternative program "School Pride" to the curriculum for fall.

It's sort of an "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" but the edifice being made over isn't a house, but a public school that's badly in need of repair. In the sneak peeks below, check out the crew coming to revamp Enterprise Middle School in Compton, Calif.

Leading the students, teachers and parents in changing this key element in their community is a team of four -- SWAT Commander Tom Stroup, interior designer Susie Castillo ("House of Payne"), comedian and former substitute teacher Kym Whitley ("Til Death") and political correspondent Jacob Soboroff ("AMC News").

"School Pride" is executive produced by "Curb Your Enthusiasm" actress Cheryl Hines and Denise Cramsey ("Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" and "True Beauty").

NBC already has a few reality competition shows under its belt with "The Biggest Loser" possibly coming the closest in spirit by empowering people to change their situations and outlooks on life.
