Seth Meyers may join 'Live With Kelly' on a permanent basis: What about 'Saturday Night Live'?

seth-meyers-getty.jpgSince Regis Philbin retired in November, Kelly Ripa has shared the "Live! With Kelly" spotlight with a number of co-hosts -- some who are stopping in to visit, and others who are doing an audition of sorts for the more permanent position.

Now, Showbiz411 reports that producers have narrowed the field to three candidates: "Saturday Night Live" head writer Seth Meyers, singer Josh Groban, and  former New York Giant Michael Strahan.

Meyers is co-hosting "Live!" again next week -- he's been on several times before, including during Regis' run. His week-long co-hosting gig begins Monday, and may coincide with an announcement that he's sticking around on a permanent basis.

So what does this mean for "Saturday Night Live"? We're hearing that Meyers would step down from his position as head writer, but would return to 30 Rock on Saturday nights to do the "Weekend Update" segments we love so much.
