The BBC released a "Sherlock" mini-episode, "Many Happy Returns," as an online gift to fans. But there was more than that -- John Watson's blog was also updated. In it, the fictional sidekick explains that he is finished with his blog and with reminiscing about Sherlock Holmes.

Watch the "Sherlock" mini-episode now.

"I need to properly move on," Watson writes in his entry. "I need to put it all behind me and move on."

Even more than that, apparently Watson has been fielding comments from people who think that his writings are all a lie. "And I'm so tired of deleting comments from people who don't believe me. Who think all this is a lie," he explains. "I know it was real. There are so many people out there who that all this was real. They believed in Sherlock."

A more to-the-point part of the blog mentions Detective Inspector Lestrade's visit and the gift of Sherlock's DVD message. "The video ... it showed the other side to him," says Watson. "He was rude, yeah. Arrogant. Apparently lacking in anything resembling empathy. But I'd forgotten just how funny he could be. He was so charming. So ... human."

Watson signs off from the blog by mentioning he has "found someone." Then he gets in one parting shot directed at a lost best friend: "Sherlock, you bastard, wherever you are. Cheers."

Will Watson start up his blog again when Sherlock comes back in Season 3? Viewers will likely find out after the debut of "Sherlock" on Jan. 1 in the UK and Jan. 19 in the US.
