Simon Cowell victim of home invasion in West London home

simon-cowell-getty.jpgReality music competition mogul Simon Cowell had a bit of close encounter in his West London home, reports the Daily Mirror. Shortly after 10:30 p.m. local time Sunday (March 25), Cowell came face to face with a female intruder, who had gained entrance to his house by smashing a bathroom window with a brick.

Cowell reportedly tells a friend, "It was an absolutely terrifying experience. Seeing this woman standing there in my house was like something out of a horror movie ... You have to look on the positive side because it could have been a whole lot worse. I now know that I need to improve my security. She could have had a gun."

The friend also tells the Mirror that due to the size of Cowell's house, the woman was able to "wander around for a bit" before entering Simon's bedroom, which is where she was discovered. The police were promptly called and the woman was taken away for questioning.

A spokesman for the metro police says, "Officers arrived to find a woman who had forced entry to the property. She was arrested on suspicion of burglary and taken to a West London police station for questioning."

The Mirror also reports that a woman named Leanne Zaloumis was charged Sunday night with aggravated burglary and will appear in magistrates court Monday (March 26) in London.

Cowell's Holland Park home was purchased by the reality mogul in 2003. It has five bedrooms, five bathrooms and was previously owned by the French Ambassador.
