Skier Heidi Kloser walks into Olympics opening ceremony on her broken leg
U.S. skier Heidi Kloser saw her 2014 Winter Olympics dreams dashed before she could even officially start the competition.
During a training run prior to the moguls preliminaries, Kloser took a nasty fall down the course, tearing knee ligaments and breaking the femur in her right leg. She had to be carried off the course on a portable stretcher.
But Kloser is putting on a brave face. She tweeted the above picture as she got ready for the opening ceremony and, as you can see below, she walked with her fellow U.S. athletes on her crutches.
Kloser is only 21 years old, and since skiing is one of those Olympic sports where athletes compete well in to their 30s, hopefully she'll be back in 2018 Pyeongchang, South Korea.
