Others in contention for the Darryl F. Zanuck Award for Outstanding Producer of Theatrical Motion Pictures are the producers of 'Argo' (including George Clooney and Ben Affleck, also its star and director), 'Les Misérables,' 'Django Unchained,' 'Zero Dark Thirty,' 'Life of Pi,' 'Lincoln,' 'Moonrise Kingdom,' 'Silver Linings Playbook' and 'Beasts of the Southern Wild.'

Since 2007, five film winners of the Producers Guild Award have gone on to win the Oscar for Best Picture.

The Award for Outstanding Producer of Animated Theatrical Motion Pictures will go to one of five films nominated Wednesday: 'Brave,' 'Frankenweenie,' 'ParaNorman,' 'Rise of the Guardians' and 'Wreck-It Ralph.'

The producers of Emmy darlings "Game Change" and "Hatfields & McCoys" were among the five 'long-form' television nominees, which also include "American Horror Story" (still bafflingly categorized as a miniseries), "The Dust Bowl," and "Sherlock."

Previously announced Producers Guild Award nominees include the documentary films "A People Uncounted,' 'Searching for Sugar Man,' 'The Gatekeepers,' 'The Island President," and "The Other Dream Team."

"Breaking Bad,' 'Downton Abbey,' 'Game of Thrones,' 'Homeland," and "Mad Men" are vying for TV drama producing honors, alongside TV comedies "30 Rock,' 'The Big Bang Theory,' 'Curb Your Enthusiasm,' 'Louie," and "Modern Family."

The 24th Annual PGA Awards will be held Jan. 26, 2013.
