'So You Think You Can Dance' sacks results show, promises changes

nigel-lythgoe-getty.jpgReality competition " So You Think You Can Dance" has a little less to jitterbug about. FOX has canceled the results show according to EP Nigel Lythgoe.

Lythgoe, who started the program in 2005, writes on Twitter, "FOX have [sic] cancelled the results show so I will have to change the format of SYTYCD. At least we have another season at the end of May. I'm certainly not mad at FOX they have supported SYTYCD for 9 seasons. With the help of Mike Darnell I think we have some great new ideas."

Ratings for the dancing show have fallen since its first season, when it debuted to more than 10 million viewers. At the end of its eighth cycle, viewership had dropped in half, to just over five million.

How this change will impact the viewer voting process is still to be worked out. Lythgoe writes, "In order to continue America's vote, results would have to be given the following week."

So Zappers, are you going to miss the results show or are you happy with the decision?
