'So You Think You Can Dance' Top 18: Did the format change matter?

With Jasmine Mason eliminated and Jade Zuberi withdrawing from the "So You Think You Can Dance" Season 10 competition this week, did the producers' decision to change the elimination format matter?

The question of elimination formatting came up during the very first elimination in the Top 20. When two dancers got the boot right at the beginning of the show, viewers cried foul. It didn't seem fair to make the eliminated duo continue to dance, and a lot of the "SYTYCD" tension simply disappeared.

"So You Think You Can Dance" listened. Before this week's Top 18 performances and elimination, the format was changed. The Bottom 6 dancers were still announced at the beginning of the show, but final results only came at the very end.

Except that things didn't work out exactly as planned, thanks to a voluntary withdrawal from Jade Zuberi. The judges only had to eliminate one dancer at the end of the show.

Did the new/old format work out? Should the producers have stuck with what they had, or is this format preferable? Share your opinion in the poll (and the comments section, should you need more words) below.
