Steve Carrell, Channing Tatum, and Mark Ruffalo's 'Foxcatcher' gets release date
Can one movie handle the combined star power of Steve Carell, Channing Tatum, and Mark Ruffalo? We'll find out this December.
"Moneyball" director Bennett Miller's buzzy new movie -- and sure-fire awards magnet -- "Foxcatcher," starring the three Hollywood heavyweights, will hit theaters on Dec. 20, Sony announced Thursday (August 15).
"Foxcatcher" is about the true story of Dave Schultz (Ruffalo) and his younger brother Mark (Tatum), both Olympic athletes, and their fraught and dangerous relationship with John du Pont (Carell), a paranoid schizophrenic and heir to the du Pont fortunes.
"I've been discussing 'Foxcatcher' with [Sony Pictures Classics co-Presidents] Michael [Barker] and Tom [Bernard] since I began researching the story in 2005 and it's always been my hope and expectation that they would distribute the film," Miller said in a press release. "Their passion and understanding of what 'Foxcatcher' could be and their ability to market unique and complex films makes SPC the ideal home for me. They were great partners on 'Capote,' and I'm thrilled to be back with SPC."
Sienna Miller, Anthony Michael Hall, and Vanessa Redgrave are also set to star.
