"American Sniper," the story of former Navy SEAL Chris Kyle, has found a director. Kyle died in February, but prior to his death the film rights to his book were purchased by Bradley Cooper. Cooper will star as Kyle in the movie, with director Steven Spielberg stepping in to helm the project, THR reports.

Spielberg comes to the project after his latest film, "Lincoln," was met with critical acclaim. There has been no start date announced for the movie, but both men are quite busy. Cooper is finishing up "American Hustle" for David O. Russell, and has already signed on for Cameron Crowe's next movie. Spielberg is producing "Jurassic Park 4," though he's put "Robopocalypse," which was to be his next directorial effort, on hold for the time-being.
