'Supernatural' Season 9 key art revealed: Check out the dark, ominous poster

The CW just released the "Supernatural" Season 9 key art on Monday (Sept. 23), and the dark, ominous poster sets up a foreboding mood as we head into the high stakes premiere.

With the tagline, "Prepare for the fall," Dean and Sam must deal with the consequences of choosing not to continue with the third trial to close the gates of hell, and Metatron's success at closing the gates of heaven, forcing all the angels to fall to earth in the Season 8 finale. In the poster, Sam, Dean, Castiel, and Crowley all stand outside the church where the epic finale ended

Should we read into the fact that Sam is looking down, while Dean is looking straight ahead? We know that Sam starts off Season 9 in pretty bad shape -- he's dying, and Dean makes a deal with a fallen angel to go inside Sam's head to fight whatever it is that's killing him. These two have made it to hell and back multiple times, so let's hope that they can make it through this.

"Supernatural" Season 9 premieres Tuesday, Oct. 8 at 9 p.m. ET on The CW.
