'Supernatural' Season 9: Will Bobby be back?

"Supernatural" fans know that death isn't permanent... well, at least it isn't on the show. So whenever we have to say goodbye to a fan favorite character, there is always a tiny glimmer of hope that we may only be saying goodbye for now.

As production on Season 9 on The CW hit show begins this week, fans were thrown for a loop when Jim Beaver -- the man behind the deceased fan-favorite father figure to Sam and Dean Winchester, Bobby Singer -- revealed on Twitter that Bobby's coming back.

The last time we saw the hard-drinking, flannel-wearing hunter was when Sam and Dean rescued his soul from hell and delivered it to heaven as a part of the trials to close the gates of hell. Unfortunately, since rogue angel Metatron finished the trials to kick everyone out of heaven first, the final shot of Season 8 was a beautiful-yet-terrifying sequence of angels falling to earth, their wings burning off.

Does this mean Bobby will fall to earth as well? Or is he coming back in another capacity? Check out Beaver's tweets to try and make out any meaning in his cryptic reveals:

Beaver did offer some of his own ideas for how Bobby will return to "Supernatural" on his Facebook page, each more wild than the next. Our favorite is this gem: "Sam dreams that he is inside one of Dean's dreams, in which Castiel dreams he is Bobby Singer dreaming he's back on 'Deadwood.' Jim Beaver guest stars, or is it a dream?" That's some serious inception.

"Supernatural" returns Tuesday, Oct. 15 at 9 p.m. ET on The CW.
