Susan Sarandon calls Pope Benedict a 'Nazi'

susan-sarandon-getty.jpgWhat is it with all these celebrities accusing people of being Nazis?

Oscar-winning actress Susan Sarandon joined this dubious group on Saturday (Oct. 15) during an public interview with actor Bob Balaban.

Newsday reports that while discussing her film " Dead Man Walking," based on the book by Sister Helen Prejean, Sarandon mentioned she's sent a copy to the pope.

"The last one...not this Nazi one we have now," Sarandon says.

As a child in Germany, the then 14-year old Joseph Ratzinger was a member of the Hitler youth, a legal requirement at the time. However his brother said that Ratzinger was an unenthusiastic member. Ratzinger also was drafted into the German anti-aircraft corps and trained with the German infantry.

This news comes just weeks after country music personality Hank Williams Jr. equated President Barack Obama to Adolf Hitler during an interview with  " Fox & Friends." As a result of this outburst, Williams was fired from (or quit, depending on who you ask) his weekly appearance on " Monday Night Football."
