Teen Choice Awards: Ellen DeGeneres, Ashton Kutcher and 'The Tourist'?

teen-ellen.jpgSunday's (Aug. 7) Teen Choice Awards had us questioning whether we were watching the right broadcast a couple of times. That's because the show was -- if not infested -- then at least heavily-infected with middle-aged presenters and winners.

It all started when Ashton Kutcher (yes, he's only 33 but he's married to 48-year-old Demi Moore and has a 22-year-old stepdaughter, so that makes him an honorary middle-ager) snagged the first award of the night: Choice Movie for "No Strings Attached." Even Kutcher seemed aware of the irony when he led the audience in an a capella version of Katy Perry's "Teenage Dream."

Then Ellen DeGeneres (53) won the evening's award as Choice Comedian. Really? She's more of a talk show host these days. Is there really no one under 50 that teenagers find funnier?

Other winners in the 35-plus club included Cameron Diaz (38, she won Choice Comedy Movie Actress for "Bad Teacher"), Ed Helms (37, Choice Comedy Movie Actor for "The Hangover"), Linda Hunt (66, Choice Action Actress TV for "NCIS: Los Angeles") and Angelina Jolie (36) and Johnny Depp (48), who won Choice Actor and Actress: Action for the practically unwatchable (even by teens) "The Tourist."

Presenters on the oldster list included LL Cool J (43), Elizabeth Banks (37) and Jason Bateman (42).

Lest you think the night was overrun by the 30- and 40-something set, rest assured -- Selena Gomez (19) walked away with five awards, "Twilight's" Robert Pattinson (25) snagged two and Demi Lovato (18) won the evening's Inspire Award.
