Team Coco live: Dancing tacos and jigsaw puzzles

coco-cam-live.jpgWe're now less than three weeks away from the premiere of "Conan" on TBS, and the promotional campaign for the show took a weird, 21st-century sort of turn on Wednesday (Oct. 20).

At 1 p.m. ET Wednesday, Team Coco began broadcasting a live video stream from a landing in the show's production offices. The show's staff and Conan O'Brien himself set out on a mission to keep the Internet entertained for a full 24 hours (the stream is also running on the show's YouTube and Facebook pages). And to varying degrees, they've succeeded in the first few hours of the stream -- just not in the way you might think.

In the bits and pieces we watched, it was almost more compelling to watch people come and go in the course of doing their jobs than the planned comedy bits. We never thought we'd say no to the prospect of a dancing taco, but after watching said taco (along with a dancing Taco Bell -- mmm, product placement) for about 15 minutes, it started to wear a little thin.

On the other hand, watching Conan's trombone player Richie "La Bamba" Rosenberg sit at a table and try to do a jigsaw puzzle? Oddly fascinating. So was watching a staff member try (unsuccessfully) to break down the table the puzzle sat on when the bit was done.

In between, we got to see staff members wave or nod to the camera and hold the occasional hand-written message up to the lens. We don't know who "D'Amico" is, but we know that at 5:53 p.m. ET, a woman told us that D'Amico is hot. We're also really curious to know what's on the other side of the elevator; people seem to congregate there.

The Live Coco Cam continues through 1 p.m. ET Thursday. We're rather curious to see what happens around, say, 1 a.m.
