'Teen Mom' star Amber Portwood out of jail soon says ex-boyfriend Gary Shirley
"Teen Mom" star Amber Portwood might have a reason to celebrate soon: her freedom.
According to Portwood's ex-boyfriend Gary Shirley (the father of her daughter Leah), the 23-year-old will be released early from the Indiana prison where she's been for more than a year of her five-year sentence, In Touch reports. This news comes shortly after Portwood's brother, Shawn, tweeted that his sister was going to be out of the prison system soon.
Shirley spoke to Portwood on Wednesday (Sept. 25), and confirmed that the reality star would be out of prison in less than two months. "The prison is supposed to contact me and let me know when exactly she is getting out," Shirley says. Portwood's release means she will be reunited with their daughter, of whom Shirley has sole custody.
Portwood has been serving a five-year sentence since June of 2012 at Indiana's Rockville Correctional Facility for charges for drug possession and parole violations. She was sentenced after she failed to complete a court-mandated drug-rehab program.
