'The Big C' is big for Showtime, 'Big Bang Theory' runs a Thursday marathon

"The Big C" got off to a strong start for Showtime on Monday (Aug. 16). The premiere drew 1.15 million viewers -- the pay-cable service's best series debut in eigh years -- while a half-hour earlier, "Weeds" drew 1.26 million people. [ Showtime]

CBS wants to make sure you're aware that "The Big Bang Theory" is moving to Thursdays with the start of the new season. To that end, the network will air a four-episode marathon on Thursday, Sept. 16, a week before the season premiere. [ CBS]

"Law & Order: Los Angeles" has added Teri Polo ("Meet the Fockers") to its cast. She'll play a recurring role as Skeet Ulrich's wife, an ex-cop who quit the force to start a family. [ Deadline]

"Eureka" has survived a creative shakeup this year to post solid ratings, and Syfy has rewarded it with a pickup for Season 5. The show is averaging 3 million viewers a week so far this season. [ Syfy]

Other cable ratings tidbits: The season finale of "Kourtney & Khloe Take Miami" on Sunday scored its biggest audience ever (3.7 million people), while "The Comedy Central Roast of David Hasselhoff" drew 3.5 million viewers, a good-sized jump over last year's Joan Rivers roast. Be forewarned: TLC will unleash a new "Kate Plus Eight" special on Aug. 30. Kate takes the kids to New York by train to see Chinatown, the Statue of Liberty and other sights. [ TLC]
