'The Following' Season 2 casts Connie Nielsen as Kevin Bacon's love interest

Sorry, all you Claire/Ryan 'shippers: "The Following" just cast a new series regular for Season 2, and it doesn't mean good things for their relationship. "Boss" actress Connie Nielsen will play Ryan's (Kevin Bacon) new love interest, TVLine reports.

So how does Nielsen come into Ryan's life? She will take on the role of Lily Gray, a Soho art dealer who finds herself in a bit of trouble. When Ryan comes to her aid, a connection begins to form which causes even more problems for her -- no surprise, as Ryan believes that he has a "death curse" and is trouble for anyone that gets close to him.

And what about Claire (Natalie Zea)? We already know that Zea is returning to the Fox hit after signing an eleventh hour deal, but there is no word yet on how many episodes she will be in. This new bit of casting news means she probably won't stick around for long.

This is the second major casting news of "The Following" Season 2 after last week's casting of "Dexter's" Sam Underwood as a young man who may or may not be a follower of the "late" Joe Carroll (James Purefoy).

"The Following" returns January 14.
