'The Originals,' 'Reign,' 'The Tomorrow People' get full season orders from The CW
Says CW president Mark Pedowitz in a press release, "We're excited about the creative momentum the producers have established for all three of our new series, and now our fans will have the chance to see the full stories unfold for them this season. With the additional episodes ordered, plus two new dramas and new reality for midseason, we'll be able to continue our commitment to adding more original programming all year long."
The network is also debuting new dramas "The 100" and "Star-Crossed" at midseason, although premiere dates for the new shows have not been announced.
The CW boasts in its press release that it is up 9 percent from last year in total viewers, and 31 percent of its audience watches the shows after their original air dates on DVR. These newly picked up shows have 84 percent more digital viewing than last year's new shows.
In fact, "The Originals" usually gets around a 1.0 rating in the 18-49 demo with more than 2 million overall viewers, but those numbers increase to 1.6 (+60 percent) in the demo and 3.25 million viewers (+52 percent) overall.
