"The Vampire Diaries" Season 5's first day of shooting is Wednesday (July 10), and we've got some scoop on a few new faces heading to Mystic Falls.

First off, sorry to all you Forwood fans but looks like Caroline is going to be tempted by the fruit of another this season. She will meet an upperclassman at Whitmore College named Jesse in the Season 5 premiere (Thursday, Oct. 10), and he is described as a sweet, charming, confident human with some mysterious -- yet totally understandable -- reasons for hating members of the undead. Sounds like this would-be relationship isn't built to last, so there's still a silver lining for Tyler. And as if Caroline's boy drama isn't enough, she and Elena will find out that college might not be the easy ride they were expecting when they take a class led by a hot-yet-mean professor, and he seems to know more about Mystic Falls than he's letting on, according to TV Guide. It sure doesn't help that his true passion is research that he believes will help humanity.

Now here's some not-so-good news for Damon: the show is casting a male doctor who knows all of the bad-boy vampire's secrets, according to TVLine.

These characters join the previously reported newbies Megan, who attends Mystic Falls High's 1950s dance and tries to woo Jeremy, and Eastern European beauty Nadia, who crosses paths with Matt and Rebekah at a Prague bar -- coming on to both of them -- before delivering an ominous warning to Stefan about The Originals.
