'The Vampire Diaries' star Candice Accola takes a romantic comedy turn in 'Dating Rules From My Future Self'

First thing's first: Zap2it can exclusively report that Candice's super-rad reptile skull ring is named Charlie, for obvious reasons.

We spoke with Michael Trevino earlier about Tyler's latest "Vampire Diaries" predicament -- but we also had to get the scoop from Candice. Poor Caroline was literally tortured last season, and now, to add insult to injury, the evil villain with a crush on her has taken over her boyfriend's body.

One might say that Klaus is inside of Tyler. "Joseph is inside of Trevino," Candice reminds us helpfully, in case we've forgotten. "I think she's gonna be pretty perturbed upon finding out that Klaus is inside of Tyler, depending on how deep inside he is and how much of a grip he has on Tyler. Depending on if he's gonna pull himself out of that, or not, or just stay in. You don't know until we start getting into the season."

The "Klaroline" fans may be in for some major trauma. "Don't hold your breath, but maybe you'll find it again?" Candice says coyly.

This summer, Candice had the opportunity to shake off some of Mystic Falls' perpetual misery and angst in exchange for some good fun comedy when she starred in Season 2 of "Dating Rules From My Future Self." The web series will premiere next week (August 2) on Hulu.

"It was so much fun," she tells us. "It's all comedy, and it's all rom-com style, it's all fun. It's about a girl named Chloe Cunningham. She's 26 years old, living in Venice, and just dates loser after loser. And just, purposefully is like, 'I don't believe in love.'"

For the first time, Candice has a producer credit on "Dating Rules" -- but she says she's not looking to start making more executive decisions on "The Vampire Diaries." "It does make me listen to the conversations had around me in a much different light," she tells us. "And looking at it [from] more of a business perspective as well as a creative one."

Check out the video below for a little bit more from Candice Accola, including her thoughts on working with "Dating Rules" Season 1 star Shiri Appleby. Just as a warning -- it was pretty loud on the red carpet, so the sound quality isn't ideal! You do get a nice good look at Charlie, though.
