'The Voice': Michelle Chamuel talks runner-up status and what's next for her
Chamuel spoke with reporters after learning the results, where she explained just what was going through her mind during the moment she and Bradbery awaited news of their fates. "A lot of different things," she says. "Part of it is just, 'Oh my God, this girl next to me is one of the most talented, kind, smart, capable, classy people I have met and she's 16 and this must be terrifying.' This is a lot to take in."
The Team Usher singer admits that, were she Bradbery's age, she wouldn't have handled it so well. "When I was 16, man, I think I would've just exploded, melted, screamed, ran away, gone to the bathroom -- I don't even know what would've happened, and she was just standing there."
As for the impending result, Chamuel says she was at peace with whatever America decided. "I was just thinking, 'No matter what happens, I hope it's just for the best and it all works out for the best,'" she reveals. "And then they called her name and it's just like, 'This is for the best.' She is the person that America needs to hear and she is so capable and I am a fan and I'm so excited for her. I'm just thrilled; I couldn't be happier."
So, what's next for Chamuel? She's not making any hasty decisions just yet, she says. Rather, she's looking forward to some downtime. "I'm gonna take some time to regroup and catch up on taking some of my walks and exercising and eating right and all the stuff that you kind of have to throw to the wayside when you're doing something like this, especially toward these end weeks," she says. "So, any decision I make or any future developments will come from that more centered place where things settled from the frenetics that is right now."
