'The X Factor': Simon Cowell says Cheryl Cole 'in the mix' for judge's seat

cheryl-cole-x-factor-us.jpg Simon Cowell, presumably sporting a deep v-neck sweater, sat down at a computer Mar. 22 to field questions about the upcoming American take on "The X Factor" over Twitter.

Using the upcoming FOX series' official account ( @TheXFactorUSA), Cowell mostly answered questions about the sorts of competitors he thinks will do well on the new competition... but we're still more interested in the panel of judges.

Responding to an inquiry about bringing over British "X Factor" judge and pop star Cheryl Cole, who's been rumored since the announcement of the U.S. iteration, Cowell seemed optimistic.

"Cheryl is in the mix," he writes, "talking to the network this week, hope to announce the 2 remaining judges very shortly."

Those two -- of whom the rumored contenders are too numbered to mention right now -- will join Cowell and producer and record executive Antonio "L.A." Reid, who was confirmed Mar. 18.

If you're still not familiar with Cole, here's a fairly explanatory highlights clip from her work on the original "X Factor":
