'The X Factor' Top 4 results: Emblem3 eliminated while Fifth Harmony, Tate Stevens and Carly Rose Sonenclar reach the finals
In order to narrow the Top 4 to the Top 3 finalists, only one act had to be eliminated. Carly Rose Sonenclar, Tate Stevens, Emblem3 and Fifth Harmony all had their chance to wow audiences on Wednesday (Dec. 12). And with the arrival of semi-final week, the judges no longer got a vote: All results came solely from audience voting.

The show opened with a look back at the week's performances before moving on to the first result of the night. In a surprise announcement, girl group Fifth Harmony took the first spot in the "X Factor" Season 2 finals.
- To fill the time, there were of course a couple of non-competition performances sprinkled throughout the hour. Bridget Menler and Bruno Mars both got the chance to sing "Ready or Not" and "Locked on Heaven," respectively.
Tate Stevens got the second spot in the finals -- taking the news with impressive stoicism. The country singer barely cracked a smile at the big news, and his first comment was merely a calm, "This is amazing."
This left only Carly Rose Sonenclar and Emblem3 vying for that last spot in the finals. With much build-up the final result was:
Carly Rose Sonenclar made the finals. Emblem3 was eliminated.
Thus, the finalists in "The X Factor" Season 2 are:
- Fifth Harmony
- Tate Stevens
- Carly Rose Sonenclar
Interestingly, this leaves three of the judges -- Simon Cowell, Britney Spears and L.A. Reid -- still have performers in the running. Only Demi Lovato isn't represented.
