EW bash carpet report: hot dresses, '90210' rumors, David Spade allowed to drink!
Breaking Emmy fashion news! "90210" casting rumors! And reactions to Travis Barker and DJ AM's plane crash. All at the packed Entertainment Weekly pre-Emmy party at the historic Beverly Hills Post Office.
Emilie de Ravin was wearing an emerald-green strapless BCBG and Jimmy Choo shoes but said she'd be in a vintage-inspired Matthew Williamson dress at Sunday's Emmy Awards. "It just popped," says the "Lost" star. "It was the most unique to me."
Maria Menounos had a 'bizarre dress night.'
"I've had so many straight men come up to me and say, 'Herve Leger right?' And I'm like, wait, this has never happened to me before and I've worn Herve Lege a million times and now all these men ââ¬â- even a lot of straight men -- have said it."
David Spade arrived at the party looking (and sounding) like he had already been at a party or two. We asked Spade if everyone goes crazy the night before the Emmys.
"Yeah. This is the fun part, and tomorrow they all get nervous so everyone stiffens up."
Will everyone get smashed tonight? "Yeah."
Does he think it's best to do the Emmy carpet hung over?
"No, I wouldn't, but I'm not nominated, so I don't care. I can drink. Yeah. I'm allowed to drink."
Jennie Garth arrived wearing a slinky black David Meister frock, her "new favorite designer," and said the late Aaron Spelling would have been proud of the new "90210."
Will she and Shannon Doherty stay friends now that they have finally started talking again?
"I think so. I do think so. I think that we have a bright future ahead of us."
And she's not surprised by the viewership for the new "90210."
"I knew that it had a built-in audience from way back then and knew that everyone would tune in to sort of quench their thirst for the old show. Now it's a matter of building a new audience for the new show. "
Should we expect more of the old cast on the new show?
"They want more of the original cast members. That's what everyone keeps saying. We need more of Brenda and Kelly, Dylan and Brandon."
