After a few fits and starts, a load of controversy, a musical number and complaints from Pat Robertson, Tim Tebow is officially a New York Jet.

The second-string quarterback was formally introduced at a packed news conference on Monday (March 26). It may also mark the first time a back up QB has ever had a press conference.

"I'm so excited about being a Jet," The 24-year-old Tebow says, adding that his goal is "to make the team a little bit better."

The former Denver Broncos starter became expendable after the team signed multi-time MVP Peyton Manning. This set off a firestorm of controversy as many felt that Tebow had earned a better standing within the organization after leading them to the playoffs. But instead, the former first-rounder was swapped for a couple of late-round draft picks.

Tebow explains that he and current Jets QB Mark Sanchez will work just fine together and there will be no quarterback controversy.

"The exciting thing is me and Mark have a great relationship," Tebow says. "We have been friends and text back and forth and have talked already. We are going to have a great working relationship and I think we will have a lot of fun together."

Tebow continues, "I have a lot of respect for him as a football player and person. He has always handled himself with class and integrity...I think Mark is very secure as a football player and as a person and how he is. I don't think he will let outsiders affect how he plays."

As for his feelings about being traded, the very religious Tebow wasn't about to say anything negative about his former team.

"There is no ill will toward the Broncos or Peyton Manning. I wish them nothing but the best," he says.
