Timothy Olyphant as FX's 'Lawman' -- first look

Timothyolyphant_lawman_290 FX's new series "Lawman" won't premiere until the spring, but after viewing a clip of Timothy Olyphant inhabiting a character created by Elmore Leonard, we've got it marked on the calendar.

"Lawman" stars Olyphant as a deputy U.S. marshal who finds himself assigned to the hills of eastern Kentucky coal country where he grew up. It's based on Leonard's short story "Fire in the Hole" and was brought to TV by "Boomtown" and "Band of Brothers" writer Graham Yost.

And, yeah, if you watch the clip and think "modern-day Seth Bullock" -- Olyphant's character in "Deadwood" -- you're probably not alone. Marshal Raylan Givens isn't quite as tightly wound as Bullock was, but you get a sense that it wouldn't take too much to set the guy off. It's something of an Olyphant specialty, and it feels like excellent casting.
