Tobey Maguire, others sued over illegal poker winnings
"Spider-Man's" Tobey Maguire is reportedly being sued in connection with an illegal gambling ring that ran high-stakes underground poker games, Radar Online is reporting.
The 35-year-old actor won more than $300,000 from Bradley Ruderman, a Beverly Hills hedge fund manager who embezzled funds and orchestrated a Ponzi scheme in an attempt to pay off his debts. 21 other people are being sued in an attempt to reclaim more that $4 million won during the unlicensed poker games.
Other celebrities being sued include the director of "The Notebook" Nick Cassavettes, "Welcome Back, Kotter" star Gabe Kaplan, Rick Salomon, record label owner Cody Leibel and others.
Leonardo DiCaprio, Ben Affleck and Matt Damon also played in the no-limit Texas Hold 'em games, but are not being sued.
