'Today': Meredith Vieira announces co-hosting Summer Olympics in London

meredith-vieira-today.jpg Meredith Vieira, the former co-host of "Today," stopped by her old morning show stomping grounds Monday morning (April 2) to make a big announcement - she is going to be co-hosting the 2012 Summer Olympics from London for NBC.

"I'm going to be joining you all at the Olympics and I'm very excited. Of all the things that I did when I was on 'The Today Show' for five years, I think the Olympics was my very favorite experience," says Meredith. "When I had the opportunity to go London, I jumped at it."

"I'm going to give people a bit of the flair and the flavor of the host country ... and I'm going to be hosting the opening ceremonies along with [Matt Lauer] and Bob Costas," says Vieira.

She also jokes that because the London broadcast will start at noon local time, she can "just drink all day long."

We'd pay good money to watch a drunk Meredith host the Olympics. Heh. The 2012 Summer Olympic Games kick off Friday, July 27, 2012.
