The former "Will & Grace" actor will host the 64th Annual Tony Awards on Sunday, June 13 from Radio City Music Hall in New York City, it was announced Monday (May 24).

"I am absolutely thrilled to be hosting the Tony Awards," says Hayes. "As the new guy on Broadway, it's an honor to be included in the established alumni."

Hayes is nominated for best lead actor in "Promises, Promises," in which he's currently co-starring with Kristin Chenoweth. A review in Newsweek discussing Hayes' performance and how gay actors in straight roles aren't regarded as seriously as straight actors playing gay has caused a firestorm in the entertainment community.

For the 64th awards, "Fela!" and "La Cage aux Folles" are tied for the most nominations with 11 apiece. Check out the full list of nominees.
