Tony Awards 2012: Is Broadway now Hollywood East?

amanda-seyfried-tonys-2012-getty.jpgIt sure looks like the gap between Broadway and Hollywood is as narrow as ever. In fact if you just looked at the presenter list for the Tony Awards on Sunday (June 10), you'd swear you were watching the Emmys or the Academy Awards instead.

In addition to host Neil Patrick Harris, the award show featured Hollywood types including Paul Rudd, Nick Jonas and Amanda Seyfried. And this doesn't even include former "Who's the Boss?" star Judith Light, who won a Tony, and ex "In Living Color" player David Alan Grier who was a nominee.

The increased presence of Hollywood stars on the Great White Way seems to have coincided with a movement toward adapting Hollywood material and turning it into plays. Such examples of this are "The Lion King," "Sister Act," "Ghost" and even "Spider-Man Turn Off The Dark."

So Zappers, what do you think about the convergence of Hollywood and Broadway?
