'True Blood' bites Evan Rachel Wood

Evanrachelwood_66thannualgoldenglobes_240 The "True Blood" teases keep coming: Following a couple of tantalizing looks at the new season, we now get the word that Evan Rachel Wood is taking a pretty important guest role on the HBO series.

Wood will play a character named Sophie-Anne, who just happens to be the vampire queen of Louisiana. She's set to appear in two episodes late in the season, EW.com reports. The role would then likely expand if the show gets a third season.

"True Blood" will be Wood's first TV role since she guest-starred in a "CSI" episode in 2003. Since then she's starred in "Thirteen," "Down in the Valley" and "The Wrestler" -- and dated Marilyn Manson, which probably is as good a preparation for playing a vampire as anything.

Wood also stars in Woody Allen's "Whatever Works," which premiered Wednesday night at the Tribeca Film Festival and is scheduled for release this summer.

"True Blood" returns to HBO on June 14.
