'True Blood' Season 6 and 'The Newsroom' Season 2 coming at you on HBO

"True Blood" has long been a performer for the cable network, and despite polarizing reviews -- critics either loved it or hated it -- "The Newsroom" debuted to respectable numbers in its first week.

The most recent episode of "True Blood" featured some shocking revelations: not only did Sookie and Alcide hook up (sexy!), Jason learned that his parents were actually killed by vampires. The decision to renew "The Newsroom," which stars Jeff Daniels as a temperamental news anchor whose ex-girlfriend ( Emily Mortimer) is his new producer, came after the Aaron Sorkin-penned show aired just two episodes.

"True Blood" stars Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer, who are married in real life, are expecting twins later in 2012.

"The Newsroom" and "True Blood" will both return in 2013.
