TV ratings: 'American Idol' and 'Modern Family' hit lows on a soft Wednesday
The broadcast networks had kind of a rough night Wednesday, with a number of shows seeing their ratings drop.
FOX's "American Idol" dipped from last week, and although it still led the night, it scored its lowest adults 18-49 rating ever. "Modern Family" had its worst outing of the season. "Arrow" was off a little bit for The CW, as was "Survivor: Caramoan" for CBS.
On the bright side, "Chicago Fire" and "Law & Order: SVU" were up a little for NBC, and "Supernatural" improved on its performance from last week for The CW. The season finale of "The Neighbors" also rose week to week on ABC.
FOX brought in just over 12 million viewers and a 7.4 rating/12 share in households for the night. CBS (7.3 million, 4.6/7) came in second, beating out ABC's 6.2 million viewers and 3.9/6. NBC (5.5 million, 3.6/6) took fourth. The CW drew 2.4 million viewers and a 1.5/2.
FOX also led the 18-49 demographic with a 3.1 rating. No one else got above a 2.0, with ABC (1.9) coming closest. CBS finished third with a 1.7, followed by NBC, 1.5, and The CW, 0.9.
