TV ratings: 'American Idol' rocks Tuesday, 'NCIS' and 'Cougar Town' down
Bringing "American Idol" on for a Tuesday night paid off big for FOX, though "NCIS" still won the most viewers for the 8 p.m. hour on CBS.
Elsewhere, "Cougar Town" was down for the second week in a row.
FOX won for total viewers, drawing 15.8 million people and a 9.3 rating/14 share in households. CBS was a close second (14.5 million, 9.2/14), with ABC a more distant third (5.6 million, 3.6/6), NBC fourth (5.5 million, 3.5/5) and The CW fifth (999,000, 0.7/1).
FOX also came out on top in the 18-49 demographic with a 5.0 rating for the night, beating out CBS (2.8), NBC (2.0), ABC (1.6) and The CW (0.4).
