CBS's football coverage bled into "60 Minutes," giving "60 Minutes" an extra push to overcome a slightly lower-rated broadcast of NBC's "Sunday Night Football" and win the night.

CBS edged out NBC for the top spot for the first Sunday of the new season, averaging 15.3 million and a 9.3 rating/15 share in households. NBC took in 11.9 million viewers and a 7.3/12. ABC came in a safe third, with 8.9 million and a 5.7/9, and FOX brought up the rear with 5.4 million and a 3.2/5.

Football brought the 18-49 demo home for NBC, though, winning with a 4.7. CBS placed a close second with a 4.6, with ABC (2.6) in third and FOX (2.5) in fourth.
