TV ratings: 'Idol' results up again, 'Bones' also strong Thursday
Ratings for the "American Idol" results show improved for the second straight week on Thursday, helping FOX to a win for the night. "Bones" also had a pretty solid outing, improving its demographic numbers from last week.
Elsewhere, "The Office" dipped a little bit in week two of the post-Carell era, and the season finale of "The Vampire Diaries" was up slightly from last week's numbers.
FOX averaged 16.3 million viewers and a 9.8 rating/15 share in households in primetime, cruising to a win over CBS (11.5 million, 7.4/12). ABC took third with 7.35 million viewers and a 5.0/8. NBC (3.9 million, 2.5/4) was fourth, and The CW trailed with 2.4 million viewersd and a 1.6/2.
FOX's 4.8 rating in the adults 18-49 demographic was a smidge higher than last week's average and led the competition by a wide margin. CBS came in second with a 2.7, beating out ABC's 2.4 and NBC's 2.0. The CW finished with a 1.0.
