A pair of Barbara Walters specials on ABC Thursday gave the network's overall ratings a boost, but not quite enough of one to dethrone CBS from the top spot. "The Office," meanwhile, gave NBC a rare win among adults 18-49 at 9 o'clock.

CBS averaged 12.4 million viewers and a 7.6 rating/12 share in households for the night. Thanks to the Walters specials and a pair of Christmas shows at 8 p.m., ABC (10.8 million, 7.0/11) had a better-than-average night in total viewers. FOX (7 million, 4.2/7) came in third, while NBC (5.7 million, 3.4/6) finished fourth. The CW brought in 2.7 million people and a 1.8/3.

Three networks finished within three tenths of a point of one another in the adults 18-49 demographic. CBS came out on top with a 2.9 rating, followed closely by ABC, 2.7, and NBC, 2.6. FOX posted a 2.1 in the demo, while The CW trailed with a 1.0.
