TV ratings: 'X Factor,' 'Big Bang Theory' lead Thursday; all five networks down from last week
The order of finish in Thursday's ratings stayed the same as last week, with CBS on top in viewers and FOX leading the adults 18-49 demographic. But the numbers were down across the board from a week ago.
Coverage of the baseball playoffs on TBS probably siphoned some viewers away -- based on metered markets, the cable channel will likely beat ABC, NBC and The CW in viewers -- but with the exception of "The Mentalist," which rose a little from last week, and The CW's shows, which declined just a tiny bit, everything else was down.
CBS averaged 11.7 million viewers and a 7.4 rating/11 share in households for the night, beating out FOX's 11.2 million and 7.0/11. ABC (6.9 million, 4.9/7) finished a fairly distant third. NBC (4.7 million, 3.1/5) came in fourth, and The CW trailed with 2.25 million viewers and a 1.6/2.
FOX led the adults 18-49 demographic with a 3.7 rating. CBS grabbed second place with a 2.9, while ABC was third at 2.1, down half a point from last week. NBC scored a 1.9 and The CW a 1.0.
