'Twilight': Robert Pattinson & Kristen Stewart just 'good friends'

robertpattinson_kristenstewart_newmoon_290.jpg"Twilight's" Robert Pattinson has squelched rumors that he and co-star Kristen Stewart are heating things up off-screen and that he almost quit acting before Edward Cullen came along.

The December issue of Vanity Fair features an interview with Pattinson in which he denies the rumors that he is romancing Stewart. "It doesn't make any difference what you say [to the tabloids]. I've literally been across the country [from Kristen], and it's like 'Oh, they were on secret dates!' It's like 'Where? I can't get out of my hotel room!'"

The not-getting-out-of-the-hotel-room is a different feeling for Pattinson, who felt he blew his audition for "Twilight" and was just about ready to call it quits with acting. Fortunately for all of us, the producers loved him and our Edward Cullen was brought to life.

The issue of Vanity Fair featuring Pattinson's interview (and apparently a great pictorial) is on newsstands in New York and Los Angeles Nov. 4 and nation-wide on Nov. 10.
