'Two and a Half Men': Amber Tamblyn now a full-time cast member

Tamblyn has been upped from that recurring part to become a full-time cast member on the long-running comedy, CBS says. She was initially hired for a five-episode run as Alan's ( Jon Cryer) niece, the late Charlie's daughter.

The show's producers must like what they're seeing at tapings, because Tamblyn's promotion comes after just one episode has aired this season.

The casting of Tamblyn filled the spot left by Angus T. Jones' departure at the end of last season. Her character is a lesbian, so in the show's worldview the "half man" part of the title can still apply.
