Van Halen tour: David Lee Roth or Sammy Hagar? (POLL)

David-Lee-Roth-Eddie-Van-Halen.jpgWe recently reported that 80's super band Van Halen is going back on tour with singer David Lee Roth. All of a sudden, the old rivalry between fans of Roth as the lead singer and later front man Sammy Hagar has heated up. It continues to be a discussion at many of the Zap2it holiday dinners, and we imagine, a bunch of yours.

If you recall, David Lee Roth was the lead singer of Van Halen from 1972 through 1985. After a spat, he left and was replaced by Sammy Hagar, who fronted the band from 1985-1996. (Yes, that guy who claimed he was abducted by aliens.)  There have been numerous reunions and a stint with Extreme's Gary Cherone, but those early years split fans into those who love classic Van Halen and those who prefer "Van Hagar."

According to Van Halan's website, tickets for the upcoming tour with Diamond Dave go on sale on January 10th. In the meantime, we'd like to hear from you. Are you excited about the tour? Do you wish it were Van Hagar? Or do you need to ask your parents who these weird guys in purple spandex are? Take our poll below.
