VIDEO: NBC's 'Day One' is blowin' up

Dayone_290 We don't know a lot about NBC's new series "Day One" yet -- which doesn't have polished clips from its pilot to show us yet -- but we can say one thing with fairly strong certainty: Things will be exploding.

The show is one of six series for 2009-10 that NBC announced Monday, and it will have plenty of time to get the first episode finished and looking pretty. In one of the few concrete scheduling announcements the network made, it said "Day One" will premiere following the 2010 Winter Olympics, which will run from Feb. 12-28.

"Day One" stars Julie Gonzalo, David Lyons, Carly Pope, Catherine Dent, Derek Mio and Xander Berkeley, among others, as residents of an L.A. apartment complex who survive a "global event that devastates the world's infrastructures" and try to figure out what happened and how to rebuild society. Here's a little bit of said devastation.

OK, so there's not much to go on there. But at least series creator Jesse Alexander, who's also worked on "Lost" and "Heroes," can offer up a few more details about the show and its genesis.

NBC is describing "Day One" as an "event series," which in present-day parlance usually means it's set to run for a fixed amount of time and won't leave people hanging at the end of the last episode. We'll see come March 2010.
